We just returned from NAB 2016 and got to put out hands on Black Magic’s new DaVinci Resolve 12.5. A major upgrade! What were we looking for? When DaVinci Resolve 12 released, we were excited about their new editing suite, but found it was still too new to drop our current editing systems (Premier & FCPX) in hopes to use one system for editing and color-grading. This move would seriously streamline our workflow.
DaVinci Resolve 12.5 offers 250+ new editing features that literally blew us away, including multi-cam editing. We had a tough time leaving the company’s platinum sponsored booth at NAB this year. In addition, the editing and color-grading suite is now fully integrated with Black Magic’s 3D compositing software, Fusion 8. Now round-tripping from Fusion 8 to Resolve is literally a key stroke away.
That’s not all! The color-grading studio was enhanced and organized with the colorist’s workflow in mind. With over 1000 new enhancements and 250 new features DaVinci Resolve is slowly becoming the one stop shop for post-production!
Beta is up and ready to download! Come get you some.
